With more than a million daily readers and a weekly print edition of 30 million Stampen is one of Scandinavia’s largest publishers. Goteborgs-Posten, Alingsås Tidning, and Hallands Nyheter are just a few titles of the Stampen Media Group.
Located on the west coast of Sweden Stampen provides its readers with local news from these areas. Local journalism is more important than ever not just due to the Corona crisis.
Stampen Media chooses CeleraOne for using a new Single Sign-On for all their news titles
To meet the increasing demand, Stampen, therefore, continues to invest in quality journalism and in the subscription business. The goal is to achieve strong subscriber growth for all titles.
According to the Digital News Report 2020 from the Reuters Institute, the willingness to pay for online news in Sweden is quite high at 27%.
For some years now, Stampen has seen an increase in subscribers. In the first quarter of 2020 the expectations were significantly exceeded and thus Stampen has raised the long-term goal for Goteborgs-Posten to 200,000 subscribers in 2025.
With a growing number of digital subscribers Stampen is adopting a new digital concept. As a result, for Goteborgs-Posten alone, the rate of digital subscriptions is 42% of the total number of subscribers.
“We are doing a major system upgrade and wanted to change to a professional and dedicated SSO provider to eliminate the errors we had before.”
At the beginning of 2020, Stampen has chosen the Single Sign-on of CeleraOne to improve their processes around customer registration and login to allow the continued growth of their subscription with a seamless identity and access management.
“We choose CeleraOne first and foremost because we were looking for a Single Sign-on that works cross-domain and for all devices and browsers. CeleraOne SSO could offer us this service.”
The advantages of the Celeraone SSO lie in the cross-domain logins and cross-publication authentication. This means readers do not have to log-in separately for all publications for which they have paid for.
“We decided for CeleraOne since they have a toolbox ready to use. So we could easily pick the parts that we needed and integrate with our services with minimal effort.”
“The biggest hurdle to overcome was to find and replace all instances of our previous SSO in the CMS, as our CMS is rather old and not easy to customize. The implementation of CeleraOne, therefore, was the easy part. ”
In summary, the Single Sign-on solution of CeleraOne allows publishers to create and adjust user processes like sign-up, login, account completion, and password recovery dialogs to their needs.
Furthermore, Login fields can be chosen, depending on what kind of data the publisher needs from the readers. User segmentation can also be done based on user sessions, subscriptions and registrations. Last but not least social logins, like subscribe with google can be added very easily.
